Abortion in Florida--yes, no, maybe.

Post # 345, Bob McKnight's Florida Commentary

Trump is not known for telling the truth. He says that polls show that the interest in abortions is no longer an issue. I wonder if that is true?

Donald Trump has been known to change his mind on issues. Perhaps his inconsistency is not greater than on abortion on the Florida ballot this year. His historic position has always been he favors abortion. When he ran for President he switched and said he would appoint only Justices that would favor repeal of Roe V. Wade, which permitted abortions. The Justices he appointed said they would not change Roe but they did. Trump bragged that he was the one responsible for ending a woman's right to choose what happens to her body.

Trump has said that the interest in abortions has died down and the public no longer cares about the issue. Public voting on the issue has grown significantly. Many states have had referendums on abortion, and almost all have authorized a woman's right to make decisions about her body. Trump, reading national polls said he would vote for the Florida abortion referendum, shocking his base.

Trump has now changed his position on abortion again, saying he will oppose abortion for any reason and vote against the abortion referendum in Florida.

Donald Trump has put his foot down and said you can count on his word. You just will not know which word.
